Real Member Success Stories

Helping Our Members – All Year Through

At Mainstreet, empowering members so you can do more with your money is at the heart of everything we do. Check out some of our successes in 2025:

In 2025, 3,128 members complete a Mainstreet Financial Check-Up, as a result, many saw improved credit scores and lower monthly payments.

We saved members $1,514,060.00 in loan interest over the life of their loans.

We collected hundreds of Member Stories like these, illustrating how Mainstreet helped improve financial lives in our communities: At our Olathe-East branch, one of our members came to us seeking help with building their credit. After a thoughtful discussion about their financial goals, we were delighted to approve them for a $500 credit card. This marked an important first step in laying down a strong financial foundation. With responsible use and timely payments, we expect this card to help them enhance their credit score in just six months. Building credit is much like any other journey; it all begins with that first step. Taking early action is crucial, especially when a loan isn’t an immediate need. We provide effective strategies to help you establish a solid credit score, ensuring that when you do need a loan, you’ll enjoy lower rates and faster approvals.

At our KCMO branch, we welcomed new members who were interested in refinancing their auto loan. It quickly became apparent that their main goal was to reduce monthly payments and improve their budget flexibility. We successfully refinanced their auto loan, freeing up an extra $300 each month. Inspired by the positive change in their finances, their son asked for a Financial Check Up analysis for himself. This led to an additional $388 back in his monthly budget.

These stories truly reflect our commitment to enhancing the financial well-being of our members. If you are interested in a free Financial Check Up you can schedule and in person appointment or start the application by clicking here, schedule an appointment online or call 913-599-1010 for assistance.

What's New

DISCONTINUING THE U.S. PENNY

Times are changing. As the economy evolves, the U.S. Department of the Treasury has announced it will stop producing the penny.

How will the end of the penny affect you?

  • We are no longer able to order pennies from the Federal Reserve, which limits our ability to fill change orders that include them.
  • Rolls of pennies are no longer available at our branches.
  • Cash in your pennies sooner rather than later. While no official date has been set, there may come a time when Mainstreet will no longer accept pennies for deposit.
  • Use digital payments – card and mobile transactions will continue to process to the exact cent and are not affected by rounding.
  • When closing an account, if your final balance includes 1–4 cents, the amount will be rounded down. You may request a cashier’s check for the exact amount or choose to donate the remaining cents to Children’s Miracle Network.

If you have additional questions or need assistance, our team is here to help.

Educator Awards

Blue Valley School District

In November Mainstreet Credit Union proudly sponsored the Blue Valley Educational Foundation’s Surprise Squad, an initiative designed to honor and support teachers. This year, the Surprise Squad awarded over 165 grants toward innovation and enhancing student learning,

The surprises squad, comprised of BVEF members and Mainstreet Credit Union employees, traveled via school bus to deliver each grant personally, bringing joy and excitement to educators and their students alike.

Olathe School District

Throughout the year Mainstreet partners with the Olathe School District to recognize two Educator Excellence Award and two Classified Employee Excellence Recognition Award (CERRA) winners each month, September through May. Both awards include a $500 unrestricted cash grant to the recipient.

As a credit union founded by teachers, Mainstreet Credit Union remains committed to celebrate and support the vital role educators play in shaping future generations. Together, we continue to invest in the growth and success of our community’s students and teachers.
